Early Protection means putting safeguards in place before Health Associated Risks and Manifestations and their Impact has a chance to grow or spread. Just as wearing a seatbelt prepares you for an unexpected impact, Early Protection strategies prepare individuals and communities to buffer against risk. In A.V.E.R.T. First™, Early Protection includes teaching participants how to establish safe environments, encourage protective habits, and reduce exposure to known dangers. This can look like creating supportive peer networks, reinforcing positive coping tools, or removing immediate hazards in a crisis. By focusing on protective actions at the front end, participants build resilience and strengthen their readiness to respond effectively when threats emerge.
